Brand-new "GENPEI"
天然杉の白太を主材料とした、柴田慶信商店の新しい曲げわっぱ。従来は端材とされてきた白太ですが、漆の色を引き立たせる、吸水性と乳のようなその明るさは、持続可能なものづくりに新しいヒントをくれました。
購入した瞬間がピークである化学塗料と異なり、天然素材の漆を使った工芸品は、使えば使うほど表情が変わります。手にした瞬間の感動から、使う人とともに歩む、育て上げるような楽しみまで、末長く味わってくださいませ。天然素材のちからを引き出した《源平》が、皆様の暮らしに役立ち、華を添える道具になることを願っております。
Shibata Yoshinobu Shoten's latest magewappa, crafted from natural cedar white sapwood, features a new twist. While white sapwood has traditionally been considered as a leftover material, its ability to enhance the color of lacquer and its brightness that resembles water and milk can provide fresh insights into sustainable craftsmanship.
Crafted with natural lacquer instead of chemical coatings, the artisanal pieces from Shibata Yoshinobu Shoten, such as the GENPEI series, are able to evolve in appearance with each use, unlike the instant peak of chemically painted items. 材料についての共同研究と、漆塗装の技術向上のため、秋田県立大学木材高度加工研究所の准教授・足立幸司氏と、秋田公立美術大学ものづくりデザイン専攻の教授・熊谷晃氏、それぞれに協力を依頼しました。
For collaborative research on materials, and to enhance lacquer coating techniques, we have sought the expertise of Associate Professor Koji Adachi from the Institute of Wood Technology, Akita Prefectural University and Professor Akira Kumagai from the Department of Design and Craft at Akita University of Art.
